Taking the first step toward healing isn’t easy. When you’re used to being the one others rely on, reaching out for support can feel especially hard.

At OATH, owner and therapist Sara McAvoy understands that struggle on a personal level. As both an Army combat veteran and a licensed clinical social worker, she combines lived experience with professional expertise to provide specialized care for military veterans, first responders, and their families.

Sara also works with individuals from all walks of life facing challenges like anxiety, depression, and trauma—offering a safe, supportive space to begin the journey toward healing and resilience.

    How we approach therapy

Healing looks different for everyone, which is why we use a mix of proven approaches that are especially helpful for trauma and stress.

CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy): A practical approach that helps you recognize and change unhelpful thought patterns so you can feel more in control of your emotions and choices.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): A specialized method that helps the brain process painful memories so they feel less overwhelming.

Trauma-Informed Care: Above all, we create a safe, supportive space where your experiences are understood and respected.

Strength isn’t just what carried you through the fight—it’s what helps you choose healing when the battle is over.

— OATH
